About us
The Sight Advice FAQ is brought to you by RNIB, Guide Dogs, Visionary, VICTA, Fight for Sight, Macular Society, Thomas Pocklington Trust and Retina UK.
The need for this resource was as a response to the needs of blind and partially sighted people, who highlighted that access to information and connection to sources of support are important to living independently and adapting to changes due to sight loss.
In the 2017 Shaping the Future report from Vision UK, people with sight loss stated that availability and accessibility of support was an issue. Out of 315 respondents, 49 per cent selected “More information about help available and where to go” as one of their top three priorities they think the sight loss sector should be working on. The report also highlighted a need for the sector to collaborate better, as some found it confusing and difficult to access the right support.
RNIB secured funding through the Fidelity UK Foundation to create the Sight Advice FAQ, bringing together leading charities in the sight loss sector to provide a single point of information – the first of its kind in the sector.
All the partner organisations have been working together to create this resource, aimed at making it easier for anyone seeking information about sight loss to find the answers they’re looking for.
