Can I get assistance applying for a passport if I have sight loss?
HM Passport Office has a Passport Adviceline, which provides a telephone application service if you're blind or partially sighted. Contact them on 0300 222 0000. Someone will fill the form in for you using the information you provide. It will then be posted to you to check, sign and return with the relevant documents, payment and photos. You also have the option of applying on line.
If you are unable to sign the form, it's possible that a relative or doctor maybe be able to sign it on your behalf,. Further information can be found on the GOV.uk website.
Guidance booklets to help with your passport application can be requested in an alternative format by calling the above number.
HM Passport Office can attach a braille sticker to a new passport that says 'passport' with your name and passport expiry date. You can choose this option when you apply.
