How can I get free legal assistance?
Free legal assistance also known as 'pro bono' legal assistance is where lawyers and law students provide their services for free, to people who need assistance but don't have the means to pay for it. You can search for legal advice clinics near you, using Law Works find a legal advice clinic near you search facility.
Advocate
Is a charity that helps people find free legal assistance. In order to receive assistance you must be referred to them by an advice agency, such as Citizens Advice or a legal advice clinic. Further information on how to obtain pro bono assistance can be found on the Advocate website.

You can use the legal aid checker tools on the GOV.uk, MyGov.Scot and NIDirect websites, to see if you can get legal aid:
