How do I claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP)?
If you are in England or Wales you can request a PIP claim form by contacting the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 0800 917 2222 or textphone 0800 917 7777. You can choose to have the claim form sent to you by post or email.
If you live in Scotland PIP has been replaced by Adult Disability Payment (ADP), you will need to claim ADP through Social Security Scotland. You can call Social Security Scotland on 0800 182 2222.
If you are in Northern Ireland you can request a PIP claim by contacting the Department for Communities (DfC) on 0800 012 1573 or textphone 0800 587 0937.
When making your claim for PIP, the DWP or DfC will take your initial details while you are on the phone. They should also ask you about your preferred format during this call. If they don’t, remember to say if you would like information sent to you in large print, braille, email, or audio. Usually, you will then be sent a claim form, called PIP2, by post along with an information booklet and a freepost envelope in which to return your completed claim form.
Please note that you can also request that you are sent (and can return) the PIP2 form electronically. You must provide an email address to which DWP/DfC will send you a message containing information and guidance on accessing and returning the electronic PIP2.
