What is an Eye Care Liaison Officer (ECLO) and how do I find my nearest one?
ECLOs (Eye Care Liaison Officers) work closely with medical and nursing staff in eye clinics, and the sensory teams in social services. They provide practical and emotional support to people who have recently been diagnosed with an eye condition to enable them to understand their diagnosis, deal with their sight loss and maintain their independence. Eye Clinics and Sensory teams will often refer newly diagnosed patients to ECLOs, however you can also contact them directly if you would like support or further information.
You can find your nearest ECLO on the Sightline Directory by entering your postcode and the search word 'ECLO'. Alternatively you can ask your local eye clinic if there is an Eye Care Liaison Officer you could see.
