What is sight loss registration?
“Registration” is carried out by your local authority or council and simply means being on your local social service’s register of people who are either severely sight impaired (blind) or sight impaired (partially sighted). It's voluntary, completely confidential and your details won’t be shared.
You can only be registered once you have attended an eye clinic appointment and obtained a CVI (certification of vision impairment). The term registration is often used as shorthand to cover the whole process but there are two distinct and separate stages.
Stage 1 - Certification
Stage 2 - Registration
For more information on Certification and registration please see our registering sight loss section.
