What are Reading Machines?
Reading machines use cameras or scanners to capture images of text and use optical character recognition (OCR) technology to translate the text into digital format, the machines then use text to speech software to read out the text. Once the printed text has been transformed into digital format, there are a wide range of ways that it can be accessed.
Examples of reading machines can be found on the Vision Aid website.
