How do you guide someone who is using a long cane?
The general rules for guiding such as giving clear instructions, describing obstacles, leaving the room and not pushing or pulling a person when you are guiding them also apply when guiding someone with a long cane. However, there are extra things that you should consider, such as what to do with the cane and how a person uses when they are being guided. Further information and helpful advice on guiding and long canes can be found on Guide Dogs sighted guiding web pages.
