Developments in software have made it possible to use an Apple Mac, even if you have no useful sight.

VoiceOver screen reader for the Mac is a software application that helps people who have no useful sight to access and interact with digital content, like websites or applications, via audio or touch.

The software application reads out loud what is on the screen and you can adapt the style of speech to suit your needs or preferences. For example, you can decrease the speed of speech or change the language. Some screen readers can also be used with a braille display.

When starting out with a screen reader, you need to learn some shortcut keys or touch gestures. While it is possible to master the basic interaction after learning just a few commands, becoming an advanced user able to interact confidently, requires a bit of time and effort to get familiar with the more advanced features. Training can help.

http://api.transversal.com/mfapi/objectref/EntryStore/Entry/http://www.metafaq.com/mfapi/Metafaq/Clients/rnib/Modules/technology/Topics/Computers-and-laptops:3071819666:4
"3071819662":
Apple-Mac-Accessibility_2
