What is braille translation software?
Braille translation software converts electronic text documents into braille or electronic braille documents into text. Most software can be run on a smartphone or computer/ laptop.
Braille documents can then either be sent to a refreshable braille display (a machine with a small panel that creates the raised dots of the braille text, which are refreshed with new text as you read) or a hard copy can be produced using a braille embosser (impact printers that punch raised tactile braille dots onto special paper, either single or double sided).
Text documents can be printed out on standard ink printers or read on screen.
