Where can I find data and statistics around sight loss?
RNIB’s Sight Loss Data Tool is the UK’s biggest collection of eye health datasets. The data sets include:
- the estimated number of people living with severe sight loss and projected change
- the number of people registered as blind or partially sighted by age group
- the estimated number of people living with sight threatening eye conditions and projected change
- the number of local ophthalmology appointments by health authority area
- the estimated cost of sight loss
- demographic data.
You can break down the report into select divisions and areas including local authority, health and social care planning area, region or country.
The data tool was updated this Autumn (2022) to refresh the data and also allow users access to more streamlined reports along with a new tab on health and social care geography.
You can download the Sight Loss data tool and find further information about the improvements on the RNIB website.
